Snowy Week

Hello Everyone,

Yeah there was snow and we had to do a lot of walking bit at the end, all things went well. Today we had another nerf war activity with the zone.  The captain American shield came in handy.

For some reason we were about to leave from Burger King and there's a random guy who we thought was anti but ended up being good friends with him. He loved to talk to us and say a lot of awesome stories and quotes to us. He's an entrepreneur and has such a testimony of the Gospel to be true. He talked to us for about 2 hours at Burger King.

We had our President interviews and all went well. Our Mission President is gonna finish his mission in July... we'll be waiting for a new Mission President. President Killpack is amazing!

So many awesome things happened and even a lot of simple things happened that brought great things that made this week better. Trials do come but at the end it all end up well.

Love you all!

Things are Going Good...

Hey Mom,

Thanks for the update!

Things are going good as always and nothing too stressful lately. We had one foot of snow this morning and so we shoveled snow for our landlords today. I've finally seen a car accident but it wasn't so bad. A guy was driving us and someone backed up to go through the snow and because he backed up 3 times, he didn't look the 4th time and he hit the brakes but a van slipped and made a bump on the guys truck. My first witness of an accident but nothing to serious for us anyway.

Finally visited a ward council for the first time yesterday. Here are pics of the guy that wanted to be baptized and he came to us. He's a cool dude. His mother is Swedish and she makes good Swedish cake.

Still happy that y'all went on a cruise because you and dad needed it lol. Love you both.

Week of Astonishment

This week was amazing. We had a baptism last Saturday. The guy's name is Sami and his mother is from Sweden and makes the very best cake. Sami studies a lot of religions and decided to be baptized in the Church. He's pretty cool.

A big miracle I'll never forget. I went on exchanges with Elder Amari who's from Atlanta and a convert at age 16. He is an awesome Elder who had such an amazing story. We were biking and I saw a guy across the street and I had a prompting to go talk to him. Anyway, we were across the road and the phone rang and we answered however during the call, the guy came to us and asked us for a blessing. Shock to that is we never went across the street but not as shocking as hearing his story in wanting to have his life better. We walked to a chapel and he shared with us about himself and his desires to do better. Because of this we decided to hand him a Book if Mormon, the Bible and the pamphlets of the lessons we teach and gave him a blessing. It was such a miracle in doing so.
Transfer calls were today and I'm staying in Orem Cherry Hill and Hillcrest Stakes with my brother Elder Fitzgerald. We met a guy who went through the flip charts lessons when he was little and is a Missionary Training Investigator. He had all the lessons and decided to come to us and desires to be baptized into the Church. He knows everything of what we teach and we are hoping a baptism for him in March.

Have a great week people.

"Two Baptisms in One Day..."

Hey Everyone,

This week was pretty busy because of so many meetings we attended and our schedule was pretty full which is a good thing for me.

Last Saturday we had 2 baptisms. Our first baptism was an 11 year old boy by the name of Evan. He is smart for a boy his age. He retains all the knowledge of what we taught him and he is a pretty funny little guy. Our other baptism is a college girl that zone leaders taught with us who is from Norway. She has a friend from Norway that got baptize. What's a miracle for them is that she got baptize in the same room as she did long ago. Memories along the way.

We put someone on date for baptism this week and we had the chance to meet our local leader Elder Holland who is one of the 12 Apostles in the Church. Wow we had miss 2 opportunities to meet him lately.

This week we helped this family moved by packing the truck and they're planning to go to Twin Falls Idaho. They are awesome. As I said, when you have pizza for one day, more comes for the rest of the week. It happens again. I might start to not like pizza anymore. I will admit, Cosco's pizza is great.

Transfer calls are next week. I might be staying but who knows.

Y'all have a great week. Love you all

Weekly Update “2nd Week of Transfers”

Hey Everyone,

Not much to update but this week we did 3 hours of service. We Helped this lady build a book case for her and she had a big background of Christianity and her family was converted to the gospel as well. WHat's funny is that my follow up trainer and I did the saem thing. We helped a lady build her bookcase and I making another bookcase while follow up training my trainee.

We have a kid on date for baptism and we taught him the 10 commandments in sign language form. I'll never forget this moment when we shared the honor thy Father and mother hand sign, he put his hand on his head and said chicken. Honor thy father and mother and chicken. That had me laughing so hard.

Thanks to the Senior Couple from my last area, we had the opportunity to teach this married couple who moved in our area. The man was a fan of everythng: Star Wars, video games, books, etc. His house was full of action figures, posters and books. He served his mission in Japan as well.

For the last 2 days, my companion Elder Fitzgerald got sick to the stomach flu and we had to stay home all day making sure he get's better. But thankfully today he is better. We had a zone activity of nerf battles. It was pretty awesome to shoot around in a battle zone like paintball.

Weekly Update “Service & Miracles”

Hello Everyone,

Many great things have happened this past 1st week of transfers.

We had a day where our dinner got canceled and we received a call that the Spanish sister's fellowshipper needs a blessing around that time from us and so we rode our bikes for 20 minutes to help her receive that blessing. It was amazing.

Another day we were out walking and there was a service opportunity to help a family move out of there house. I think it was a big helpmconcerning that no one but our ward mission leaders helpmthis family.

As a follow up trainer I've seen great progress in Elder Fitzgerald and he's from Virginia. We one time went out at night trying to contact this woman who was not home but went and found a guy that needed some support from us as missioanries. He was from Virginia and Elder Fitzgerald being 6 weeks in the field testify truth and brought comfort to him since he relate Virginia with him. I am proud of my new companion.

We attend a baptism for a kid who chose to be baptize and his dad was not a member. He greeted us kindly when we arrive and I never met the guy before. On that same day at evening night, we walked and found him coming across the street and wanting to talk to us. He was proud of his son making a great decision for himself and is working hard for his new years resolution goal. We had a great conversation with him and might be planning himself to get baptize.

No such things as coincidences. God is there always to provide. This week was full of miracles and service.

Happy New Year!

Hey Everyone,

Happy New Year's!

We had transfer calls this morning and I am moving to a new area in Hillcrest and Cherry Hill Stakes. My companion is actually my follow up trainer who is my trainer's trainee. I am training my brother Elder Fitzgerald. Looking forward to having a great transfer.

On the 29th, we had a multi zone activity where we got to go to the Luminaria where we got to see many statues of Christ that goes along scenes of each statue of Christ's life and what he did on the earth.

We had a baptism last Saturday of a guy by the name of Kody. I was actually sick that day so I got to Skype in the baptism. Feels good to recover after that.

It was awesome serving in the Utah Orem Sunset Heights and Lakeview Stakes. Next is Hillcrest and Cherry Hill with Fitzgerald.

There was Snow...

Nothing much new has been going on. Because of the Season and Holidays, it is difficult to get in contact with people. Nevertheless, there were amazing lessons we taught to people that week.

Last Thursday, we went to have dinner with 3 guys who are attending UVU and 2 of them are computer software people. We are having this Asian food called “Fa” or whatever how you say it. It's basically Noodles and meat in broth. It was delicious and maybe even one of the greatest dinners I had in the field.

On Saturday, I went on exchange with Elder Margettes who is from Nebraska. We had a great time going to Christmas parties. One of the great themes in one of the parties was a cruise. The person who was hosting the party was dressed as a sailor and his wife played many different songs on the electric keyboard. Interesting to hear Christmas songs in country version.

We had a Zone conference and did white elephant gift. I bought a hot wheels car and got a puzzle. Zone Conference was fun. We played a game of singing all the songs before all the other districts complete and we hit it so hard on 12 days of Christmas.

Y'all have a Merry Christmas

December “Light the World”

Hello Everyone,

Sorry I did not write last week but no worries, all is well.

Last Saturday we had a baptism. My first baptism with someone I taught. His name is Andrew and he is a computer guy and is an awesome dude. His birthday was even on his baptism which is pretty cool and easy to remember what day your baptism is. He was taught for a month and a half and is really committed.

Last Monday, we had our district activity which was bowling in UVU. We played a few games and my trainer (Elder Mortensen) got behind me by 1 point in 2nd place. I never knew bowling can be this fun 🎳

Well recently, we no longer have the car and so we’re on foot which is hard because we have the biggest area in the zone and maybe even the mission. A few times during the week, we would walk through UVU which is pretty cool to see.

Had a great interview with President Killpack. He's just amazing! It's like talking to the Savior. We also have been having dinner with young single adults and learning some awesome and crazy experiences they had on their missions.
The church put out a video called “Light The World” which is 25 Day challenge on many ways to serve people this Holiday season. As we are in this month of December we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. By doing so we get to know of him and serve like him. Go to mormon.org to watch the video because it's just incredible to see and hear.

Week 19~Lakeview and Sunset Area

I feel like this transfer is going well concerning that I was moved to a new apartment which was claim to be the most envied apartment in the whole mission. I went from American Fork to my second area which is the Lake View and Sunset Area. It is the biggest area in the Zone and maybe even the whole mission and it covers 16 Stakes. I can't wait to be busier than I ever was. My new companion is Elder Clarke who is a transfer younger than me. It feels weird to be the senior comapnion when I don't know my area well and he is also the designated driver. Were having the car for this week and we'll be back on bikes and walking.

Our landlord has a mutt dog that explores the house and his name is buddy. I love that dog. Being in the new apartment I feel so spoiled. In fact I say Utah is a spoiled place to be on a mission. There is a mansion who has a bunch of lights and its pretty lit to drive by.

Thanksgiving was amazing! We had two dinners and it's great to eat pumpkin pie and colsalad. Me and Elder Clarke agree that it was weird how its not as good of having a dinner without your family.

Elder Clarke is from Springfield Missouri and served for about 4 months. Great missionary that loves to work.

Well my district is very intersting. My Father (trainer and first companion) Elder Mortensen is there with my brother (his second trainee) Elder Fitzgerald who is from Virginia and in the same stake as Elder Mortensen's follow trainer. Small world. My district leader Elder Lavoie and his companion Elder Marggetts. Elder Lavoie is a Spider-Man fan and Margette is from Nebraska.

I am looking forward to many opportunities to teach this week.

I met one of the grandsons of Elder Bruce R. McKonkie who is a Ward Mission Leader. It's amazing to see an owl one night.

Y'all have a great week

Week 18~Transfer to Orem

Today was the transfer calls and I am moving out of American Fork and be going to Orem and my new companion is Elder Clarke. I do not know who he is but next week ya'll will. I will have a car for 2 weeks and the rest will be biking. Still get to use my horn on my bike.

The musical fireside was AMAZING. Vocal Point was really the best, especially singing Nearer my God to Thee and our Mission Song. Sheri Dew was the best speaker of course we heard.

Last week, I went on excahnge with Elder Deakins and helped him with training him. We went to visit a man that me and my MTC comanion ELder Jasperson first found and man we had such a great conversation on the topic of philosophy, religion and doctrines. I had the chance to see him one last time and try my best to help him be commited. I don't know what he's gonna do but he said he will accept my challenge and do the commitments on what he needs to do. It took him a while for him to accept the assignment and even though if I may never meet him again, I sure hope that he will do it. Smart man and he calims to be 6 8''.

We had great lessons with less active members and I hope the missionaries will continue to teach them well.

Last Friday, we went about doing service on raking leaves for a family in Elder Jasperson's area. We also had a great time going bowling as a District.

I don't know what will happen on Thanksgiving but for sure it's gonna be enjoyable. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Week 17~Miracles

Today was one of the greatest preperation days we had. We went bowling and I made a great score of 112 but maybe not as good as my friend Joe back home.

We have been helping a ward with food preperation for their Thanksgiving party and wow it was great record amount of people there. What's a great miracle is that me and Elder Oyunbold had the chance to speak in sacrament meeting about our lives be like without the Book of Mormon and I felt so pumped to speak. What's even a greater miracle is that we were asked last minute to give a lesson in 2nd hour on missionary work. I have to admit, me and Elder Oyunbold dropped the mic on that one because it went so well. The Spirit is real and so are God's mysterious ways of performing miracles.

We actually had the chance to help a German woman to build her bokcase and she made this amazing meat of pork that Germans made. Me and Elder Oyunbold admit that it was one of the greatest meats we ever had. Her name is Mary and she is amazing especially someone who's not a member.

Missionary work here is going well. We have been teaching many great lessons and helping people be commited into doing the things they need to do.

We finally got our new smart phones. They're just like the Samsung tablets but smaller. What we learn is that, new missionaries will allow just phones for the new missionaries. Hotspot is what makes it easier for the work to keep moving forward.

Many miracles come and miracles in this day has not ceased. God does indeed love us and is willing to provide us the help we all need in our daily lives. By sincere prayer comes many great answers.
