Week 13~Ready for Conference

Good Morning Everyone,

This week has been a cool week. The weather changed so quickly and no worries I got the sweaters and coats I need. Well this week I had a few door slams on my face but it is all good.

Yesterday was the first time to visit The American Fork 38th Ward and so many people in the ward that it filled up the entire chapel and half of the gym. I am just not use to this kind of ward with that many people especially back home.

Conference is coming this weekend and I am looking forward to it. My companion was invited to go to the Sunday afternoon session and so I will be with other Elders that are not able to attend. I am looking forward to hear from President Monson.

A lot of people we have contacted but we had the chance to set up an appointment with a nonmember thanks to Bishop Shettell from AMerican Fork 1st Ward. I hope this will not slip by, I pray thee.

In the Bel-Aire Care Center, we got the chance to give a big Book of Mormon to a woman name Elizabeth. The same person that drew the faces of me and my companions. Since she needed to read big letters, we gave the big Book of Mormon to her. She is a Catholic and she is a little older than the Prophet himself. She is 91 or 92 years old. I would say this a great simple miracle.

In case if I didn't say this but I went to a Temple Endownment last week and it was better for me this time than it was before. What really stook out to me what reading Ether chapter 3 in the Celestial Room. Great experience.

I met a family on a dinner night that the whole family loves to read and that's all they do for a living. I really envy them for that talent and what is more interesting is that the Father, Brother Foltz, has this beard and told us how he became a model of Jesus Christ and has a portrait of him in one of the Salt Lake City Temples. I was surprise about that when he showed us the pics.

I had a great experience week in the cold, going to the temple, meeting new people, learning how the handbooks shows the greatest things of the Church. Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of God.

I love you all and I still pray for you. You all are the best.

Week 12~Love this Area

Hello Brothers/Elders and Sisters,

It was a mistake, preperation day is today so lucky for you all (ya'll)

On Sunday when Bishop Shettell's son, Josiah, gave his homecoming talk and went to his homecoming party, his cousin happens to be the wife of the actor that played Giamel (however you spelled it) on the mormon message videos, Reaching out with Love and Stay within the lines. His real name is Kalob and he served his mission in Peru. During his mission, the company that does the mormon message videos, they would always call up is parents asking him when he comes home and the day before he came home they video chat him asking him to do the Reaching out with Love video. Amazing stories he has when he got the role. Kalob is the husband of the cousin of that family of the return missionary who is Josiah.

On the same day of the homecoming talk, I got to speak on Charity and my companion got to speak on gratitude. Along with other sacrament meetings, we had the sucess of seeing people that took our invontation of coming to Church.

During these past 2 months in the field, I actaully gain about 20 pounds. They said the average amount of weight an Elder gains in this mission is 40 pounds. 60 for Sisters. The members in this mission are trying to accomplish the task of fattning the missionaries. I just know that because of my biking, my pants have started to feel tighter.

It was awesome to teach at the Bel Aire CareCenter about the importance of families and that through Jesus Christ we can be with our families again.

I love the area I am but there is hardly anyone to find and teach so we more focus on just members. I love the people and it's giving me the experience on getting to know the members.

This week has gone great and I want to share this amazing Utah Orem Mission Song: Send Me

Love you all!

Week 11~Service

Hello my friends,

This week has gone well! Yesterday we had a Regional Conference in the Orem, Provo and Saint George Utah Area where Elder Gary E. Stevenson spoke. He shared a story where when he was out in the middle of his mission he was called to Japan and it was humid for him, he ride bikes, and everyday eat mostly eats rice and fish. During the time the Church decided to make Utah a mission area and he received a letter from his parents about it. He learned that there are 2 missionaries from Utah that are called to Utah and how Elder Stevenson's parents offer to have the missionaries in their home taking his room where to sleep, his truck for transportation and being prepared for his mothers delicious pancakes for breakfast. He also talked about 3 Christlike attributes and he found it in the lane HOV in the Highways. HOV: Humility, Obedience and Virtue. Amazing he talked he gave along with others who talked about following the prophet, prayer, and being of good cheer.

We have done a lot of service this week. Our first service was helping with landscaping for this family in which one of them is inactive and a deacon was a convert. Another service was for a lady over 60's who has a lot of wood wanting to be stack in the backyard. She loves the south because of southerners saying mam and sir a lot. another service was painting houses for a service project for the American Fork Harbor Ward Focus Area.

Another service opportunity I had was helping a less active male who wants to have the spiritual experiences with the church again, wanted a new couch. Not so long after that, there was a woman who is less active who wants to get rid of her furniture because she wanted a new couch from big lots. What made it interesting is that we got to help 2 inactive members that was beneficial to the both of them. I say it was tender mercy for the both of them. They both promise they will come to church and I am looking forward into seeing them there.

Last Tuesday, the Bishop had a barbecue for the ward because of his son's arrival home from The Phillipines. His name is Josiah Shettell and he has such a strong testimony and he has been a great help for being a fellowshiper for this family we are looking forward to meet. There is a young man who bishop claims he is ready to be baptize after everything he has gone through. At last we found a new investigator!

Not only that, at regional conference, there was this lady that was not a member who wanted to meet with us this week. What's interesting is that she wants to hear us out and how her fiance and his mother were really anti to it. I pray so strongly for an oppotunity to finally meet someone who is waiting for us to meet. I hope this won't slip by.

I hope everyone back in the East is going okay. I have people telling me about the hurricane after telling them where I was from. I prayed for your safety and for others for their personal success in what you can acheive. I love you all!

Week 10~New Companion

Hello Everyone,

Transfers were last Wednesday and my new companion is Elder Oyunbold(prefer to pronounce as best as you can). He is from Mongolia and served for 20 months so far. 4 months until he goes home. He was baptized at age 19 thanks to the change to his brother who was baptized 4 years before he did. He had such an amazing conversion experience. He is a great cook and he taught me a few things on how to cook your rice and eggs. He is the best and he is the distric leader!

Throughout this week, I have been praying so hard for specific people and I got a chance to meet with a few men who were going through hard times and got to comfort them by sharing uplifting messages on the Will of God. We are striving to help them with their personal needs.

There is a kid who's birthday is next week and is having a party with his friends. The party's theme is Harry Potter and they have a game of the quiddige game(Harry Potter game). We were invited to go there tonite and see how it goes.

Yesterday, we met a family who is from Napari, which is an island below Hawaii, and 2 brothers both served a mission in Australia where my dad served. They make the best chicken!

May the Lord bless you all!
