Week 5~It's "Mi Ranchita"

Almost like "Mi Casita" back at home😁
Wow only week 2 and it seems so slow throughout the week!
The area is great but it's difficult to find people to teach that are nonmembers. My area is so small and there's a lot of members in those areas.
I got to see the temple on the way home, Mount Timpanogas on the way home. Beautiful place!
I love my companion! He reminds me of myself before the mission. He loves this Mexican restaurant called Mi Ranchito that reminds me of my Mexican restaurant back home. He'll eat there anytime. I ate there a lot before my mission and I never thought I would ever eat there again XD.
Our goal is try to get more members more involve with missionary work. We know how important members are with missionary work according to Gordon B. Hinckley.
What's not going so well is that a lot of inactives are not having motivation to commit. We're working on this Father who misses his experiences of feeling the spirit and going to the temple but would not come and bring his kids to church. Nice man and everything, in fact, we share a lot in common. But we're trying our best to get him to church and also baptize his boys.
There's also a man who was a convert to the church when he was in his early 20s with his wife and he was well active in the church. He was a seminary teacher, a bishopric counselor, a missionary but not a proselyting kind and a faithful man. He at one time had an accident with his head and lost some of his memory. While he was in the hospital, his family member showed him some anti Mormon stuff and he decided to go in active. Throughout a few months he's actually been making some changes and he has a desire to come back to Church. The spirit is there for him and his family. We're praying and fasting for him that he can come again and be such a great influence for his children and grandchildren. His wife is very faithful and is great with family history.
I may not witness many miracles this week but I've seen how the spirit can be a good influence and I'm so grateful for it. Thanks to a Sunday talk yesterday by a man, he shared a great doctrine of sacrifice which influences me to do better with my missionary work and even be more converted unto the Lord just like the MTC.
I've witness some door slamming in my face and people not interested in the Gospel because of trouble times they have. What I've realize is that since I know the Gospel is true and such a great influence, it makes me want to love those more who reject it because of the trials they have and knowing that afflictions are hard to deal with and recalling hard times I had in my life, it makes me want to help them how to overcome it.
My prayers have change here and there but I have not forgotten you all. You have been in my prayers and you will always be. Slowly but surely the Lord's time is right and I'm happy to see that everyone is doing alright. Take care Y'ALL

OWeek 4~First Letter from the Field

Hey Elders/Brothers and Sisters,

This week in the mission field is awesome!
On my first day I got to meet my trainer Elder Mortensen. Awesome Elder who's only 2 months older than me lol. He's from Tennessee. After, we had a great lunch at Five Guys with these faithful members named the Howes.
I got my bike and I've been riding it. I hope all that bike riding will help me pay off of getting ready to do a triathlon when I get back home...hahaha.
I miss the MTC because of the people in my zone, district and my teachers in which one of them is one of the 3 nephites XD.
When proselyting you do expect to see a lot of members active or inactive (mostly inactive).
There's one nonmember that goes only to the first hour at church. He has done this his whole life since he was little and yet he's not baptized. He knows the church doctrine pretty well but yet he's not baptized. Three months and even longer he took the missionary discussions and we're trying our best to convince him to be baptized. I love him and he's my first person to teach in the field. He even knows my last name because there's a finance company that has my last name in it...hahaha.
I attended 3 sacrament meetings on Sundays because there is so many wards. I covered the American Fork 1st, 15th and 38th ward. Great people. One of the bishop's sons is in my hometown stake. Small world.
I've been praying for each and every one of you! You're all the best and I hope you all success in whatever you do!

Mom,
It's all good. Elder Mortensen is awesome. I'm trying to get use to the area even if it's only the first week. Don't worry about my hunger anymore. I like the mission a lot. I've been praying for you and the family! I hope the ward is good! I hope you got the pics from a family I went over last night. A family member took a pic of me and sent it to you by me giving her your number. Great family. Anyway hope you are doing good!

Your email to Elder Lockhart will be well received here in the mission field. Letters and packages may be sent at any time to the Mission Office address below.
Here is a picture taken this evening. Thank you for sharing Elder Lockhart with us and the Lord.

Sincerely,

Week 3~Last Day of MTC

Hey family,

Today is my last day and the day to head out. The MTC was great! My teachers were great along with the district! The MTC is like a review of what school was like since the days go by long and the weeks go by short! Also, we got to sign journals like yearbooks and I got give my first priesthood blessing! Great experience!

Week 2~The MTC is Great as Always

Hey Everyone,

MTC is great as always! Days go by fast but weeks go by slow! My district is the best. We have great study moments together! My teacher Brother Abidillo is the best teacher. In fact we think he's one of the 3 Nephites XD.
TRC (teaching resource center) is great since we get to role play, teach investigators and the lessons always go well. The food is great as always and the leaders are the best.
I leave next week to go to the field and I'm looking forward to it!

Hey Mom,
Yeah everything is going well! It's good to hear you're doing well. Dad is keeping me up to date as well.
Today I am going to the temple just to clean up but not to temple work.
We have'nt heard from any General Authorities but we have awesome speakers that speak for Sunday Devotionals and I've been making a lot of notes.
My companion is to going to the same mission as I am. He's awesome. Good singer, football player, knows church doctrine well and we get along a lot.
Washing my clothes are not bad really. My companion even leaves his socks inside out and that's something dad would flip out at...hahaha
My district are just a group of companions that are going to Utah Missions. 12 members are in it. They're awesome and they're impressed how I know alot of scriptures and history.

Week 1~"Going Good..."

Hey Mom,

I got the package and I loved the watch you got me along with the alarm clock, lotion, umbrella and everything else. I enjoy the new building and I got to see it on the first day but not ever since. The MTC is helping me on how I should study and although I feel disappointed when practicing teaching, I know that it doesn't matter since my Branch President shed some light on what is most important and that's the spirit. Although I haven't cried like dad ever since I left like he did, I miss you and the family. I started reading "Our Search for Happiness" by Elder Ballard and The Book of Mormon and it's getting better when reading. Spirit is so strong.
The pants, shirts and suits are coming in handy. I'm glad you got me the lotion because the dry skin is kicking in and it's helping as well.
What I really need though are hangers for my white shirts and pants. Everything else I already got including the bag.
I'm glad you're enjoying it out there and tell Martha and Mark and the others I said hello and how I saw Sam.

I love you!
Elder Lockhart

Hey Dad,

I'm sorry if this disappoints you but since the MTC makes me so busy, I've never cried ever since I've  left.😜   Although I'm not saying I don't miss my family, I had a lot of focus on what I need to do.
Me and my companion get along great although we have little in common. He's like you and Coach combined since he's slow to anger like you but he's mad when it comes to sports like Coach. Great man. In fact, he's the District Leader and he is a football player from Texas. He has a great knowledge of the scriptures and we both have the same objective of being missionaries.
I'm staying hydrated alot thanks to the 5 dollar MTC water water. All is well.
There is a talk by Elder Bednar that he gave on a Sabbath Day Christmas at the MTC years ago about the character of Christ and only at the MTC are you able to watch it and because it is so powerful it's a big help for missionaries.  I think it's good for the church because it shows a good definition on how to be a true Saint and Mosiah 3:19 is a the key scripture he said. Great talk.

Well, everything is going well,

love you Dad
